This is a cover of a song by Dreams Come True, which itself is a version of a song (Green Hill Zone) composed by band member Masato Nakamura for the video game Sonic the Hedgehog in 1991. DCT produced two of their own versions of the track last year, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the game's release. One is calmer and features more natural instruments, while the other is more energetic with an arrangement that feels closer to what you would hear in the video game; I only ever heard the latter version around three months ago, and right then I knew I wanted to try my own take on the song, with the help of my girlfriend providing vocals.

This cover is meant to be a love letter not just to the original version of the Green Hill Zone music, but to composers both official and unofficial, who have created their own takes on the iconic tune over the years. As such, there are some choices with the arrangement that may remind you of certain versions of the song. I appreciate if you can recognize them.

This is also a fitting subject for my first musical release. I feel the warmness and openness of the first level's music invite me to make more music in the future. And I can't wait to share it with you all.
